Post-ANT Opportunities
In addition to the substantial opportunities associated with exposure on a national stage, The American National Theatre will employ its network of industry support as it strives to create opportunities for extension to nonprofit, commercial, and international venues, as well as for adaptation to film and television.
Educational Programming
As a complement to its artistic programming, The American National Theatre will implement comprehensive and multi-faceted educational programming beginning in the 2008-2009 season. The goals of the education program will be:
to heighten awareness and understanding of theatre as a metaphor for community
to promote recognition of the common threads that connect a multi-cultural society
to increase knowledge of theatre as an expressive creative art form with a rich legacy
to create consciousness of the importance of observation and participation
to develop the individual artist
to strengthen creative and collaborative processes
The American National Theatre will fulfill its educational goals through partnerships with local and regional arts organizations and local schools.
Literary Department
Among the services to be provided to ANT member theatres is access to The American National Theatre Literary Department, which will accept submissions of new work from the nation’s dramatists and musical theatre composers, as well as theatres and agents. The Literary Department will evaluate these works and make its recommendations available to members for consideration for potential production.
